For those who’re actually reading this thing, and know what Aurellia is, they might also have noticed that www.aurellia.net has been closed. This decision is final, and the aurellia project is now discontinued.
As of January 28th 2009, Aurellia.net will no longer exist in the way you’ve grown used to. The reasons for this decision are many. Firstly, we had internal disputes within the crew, and even though we tried to work them out, things just remained the same, and although the development of Aurellia 3 had just begun, there were more to it than just arguing.
My personal profession(now there’s a sentence I never thought I’d use) has changed drastically, and in order to contine my life as a graphic designer, I had to start my own company. While I’d been thinking a lot of using Aurellia as its name, I never got around to actually doing it, and since my choices now were to do it or quit, I simply had to. Since I also am the owner of the domain, I saw no way of working around the domain name and creating another one, as I already owned it. The timing was really bad, but it could also be good, taken into account that the internal disputes weren’t exactly working out anyways. We could agree on parts, but personally, I felt that it wouldn’t work out anyways, even in the long run.
Therefore, I decided to shut down the site immidately, without even giving an official reason. Ben McEwan wrote a news post about it, but I took down the site within hours afterwards, giving the members little time to actually know what was going on.
Anyways, the site will in the future serve as a norwegian design site with the option for international use as well, serving as my graphic and media company’s customer portal, rather than a tutorials and resources web site.
However, Ben has told me he will start up a site of his own later on, which I’m also led to believe won’t be a tutorial resource, and I might continue releasing tutorials on www.revver.com. Whilst the quality of the clips won’t be HD, it will still get the message out there, and earn me a couple of cents on the side.
So, there’s the full story of why. Now, feel free to harass me about how selfish and cynic I am. I really don’t care, as this was how it HAD to be.
